The Government of Ghana has initiated steps to extradite a Russian national accused of secretly filming Ghanaian women, according to Sam George, Minister for Communications.
Speaking on the matter, the minister said the decision follows investigations into allegations that the suspect had been secretly recording women without their consent, an act authorities consider a serious violation of privacy and the country’s laws.
Government takes action
Sam George indicated that the government is working with the appropriate security and legal institutions to facilitate the extradition process. He stressed that Ghana will not tolerate activities that infringe on the rights and dignity of its citizens.
The minister also reassured the public that authorities are committed to protecting personal privacy and ensuring that any individuals found guilty of such offences face the full rigours of the law.
Legal processes underway
Officials say the extradition will follow established legal procedures and international cooperation protocols. Relevant agencies are expected to coordinate with foreign counterparts to ensure the process is carried out in accordance with the law.
The case has sparked public interest, with many calling for strict action against individuals accused of violating the privacy and safety of women.
Authorities have not yet released the identity of the suspect or further details about the timeline for the extradition.
