American streaming sensation IShowSpeed has named Kenya as the standout destination of his recent Africa tour, praising the overwhelming reception he received from fans during his visit to the East African country.

The YouTuber, whose real name is Darren Watkins Jr., resumed streaming barely two weeks after concluding his continent-wide trip dubbed Speed Does Africa. During his first stream back, he was asked to name his favourite moment from the tour—and he did not hesitate to pick Kenya.

According to Speed, the massive crowds in Nairobi left him stunned. He revealed that approximately 30,000 fans gathered to watch him stream in person, an experience he described as unforgettable.

“My visit to Kenya was just crazy. I couldn’t believe how many people came out for me. I think about 30,000 people showed up in the city just to watch me stream and be part of the experience. I don’t think I’ve ever seen that many people before. Just to think that I could pull that many in Africa… I was astonished,” he said.

Massive crowds and cultural experiences

Speed’s tour covered more than 20 African countries over nearly a month, beginning in Southern Africa before moving through East and North Africa and ending in West Africa. Each stop featured live streams that drew large online audiences as well as enthusiastic crowds on the ground.

In Kenya, Speed kicked off his visit at Upper Hill School, where he interacted with students during an energetic session. He later explored Nairobi’s famed matatu culture, riding in a customised matatu called Syndicate as part of a convoy that included the MoneyFest matatu.

Thousands of young fans followed the procession on motorcycles, creating a city-wide spectacle that temporarily slowed traffic in parts of the capital.

One of the major milestones of the trip came during the Kenya stream, when Speed surpassed 48 million YouTube subscribers. He gained an estimated 360,000 new subscribers while streaming from a helicopter over Nairobi.

Visit to Maasai Mara

On the second day of his visit, Speed travelled to the Maasai Mara, where he experienced a wildlife safari and immersed himself in Maasai traditions. He was even given a Maasai name, marking a cultural highlight of the trip.

Social media reactions

Following his comments naming Kenya as the top highlight of his African tour, many Kenyans took to social media to celebrate the recognition. Fans praised the country’s hospitality and the energy shown during his visit, with many calling the turnout a “festival-like” reception for the streamer.

Tour across the continent

Speed’s Speed Does Africa tour lasted 29 days and covered over 20 countries, drawing massive crowds at multiple stops. The tour further boosted his global popularity and subscriber count, cementing his influence among young audiences worldwide.
