Barcelona and Spain star Lamine Yamal has won the 2026 Men’s Young Talent of the Year award at the Ballon d’Or ceremony in London, making history with his third consecutive triumph.

The 19-year-old forward secured the prestigious honour on Monday, October 26, 2026, after previously winning the award in 2024 and 2025. His latest victory makes him the first player to win the award three years in a row.

Yamal Makes History at Ballon d’Or Ceremony

Yamal’s latest achievement further strengthens his reputation as one of football’s outstanding young talents. The Barcelona winger beat several promising players to retain the award, including teammate Pau Cubarsí, Paris Saint-Germain midfielder Warren Zaïre-Emery and other emerging stars.

The award, formerly known as the Kopa Trophy, recognises the best male footballer aged 21 or younger and is presented as part of the annual Ballon d’Or ceremony.

Yamal received the trophy from former Ukraine international Andriy Shevchenko in London.

Barcelona Star Praises Teammate Pau Cubarsí

Despite winning the award for a third successive year, Yamal acknowledged his Barcelona teammate Pau Cubarsí, who was also among the leading contenders.

Speaking after receiving the honour, Yamal said he would have liked Cubarsí to win, praising the defender’s consistent performances.

His comments reflected the strong competition among Barcelona’s emerging talents, with both players continuing to establish themselves at the highest level of European football.

Another Milestone in Yamal’s Career

Yamal’s achievement follows another impressive season with Barcelona, during which he played a significant role in the club’s domestic success.

His ability to create chances, take on defenders and influence attacking play has made him one of the most prominent young players in world football.

Although he finished third in the 2026 Men’s Ballon d’Or rankings behind winner Harry Kane and runner-up Kylian Mbappé, his third consecutive Young Talent of the Year award provided another major individual milestone.

At just 19, Yamal has already established a remarkable record in the award’s history, setting a new benchmark for future generations of footballers.
